Job Title: Diesel Mechanic Assistant
Essential Job Functions:
Efficiently and accurately perform tasks outlined on repair orders, adhering to industry and factory standards.
Diagnose malfunctions and conduct necessary repairs.
Document all work performed and recommendations on the repair order.
Inspect assigned vehicles to assess the need for additional safety or service work.
Move heavy-duty vehicles within the yard, wash bay, service shop, or deliver to the rental shop.
Manually or using automated equipment.
Safely fuel diesel and natural gas vehicles, following all shop safety policies and procedures.
Conduct multi-point inspections on inbound units per company policies, including checking tire pressure and tread, fluid levels, lights, washing windows, changing tires, inspecting refrigeration units on trailers, and reporting service or driver issues to the shop.
Knowledge and Skills:
Possess knowledge and demonstrated experience in diagnostic fault-code troubleshooting using laptop computer/software.
Proficient in electrical, clutch, suspension, air/hydraulic brake, and air conditioning systems diagnosis and repair.
Qualifications:
Valid driver's license and a willingness to obtain a CDL.
Must own basic tools.
Proficient in written and verbal communication skills in English.
Strong technical aptitude with the ability to learn and maintain equipment and machinery.
Quick troubleshooting and problem-solving skills are preferred.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Beginner-level knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance is preferred.
