Environmental Safety Technologies (EST) is an environmental microbiological laboratory providing clients around the world with analytical testing for some of today’s most important corrosion and pathogenic bacteria. For over 25 years, EST has provided our clients with rapid responses to environmental outbreaks, FDA-clearance testing, and risk analyses.
EST is looking for a Laboratory Analyst for our main Laboratory in downtown Louisville, Kentucky
Laboratory Analysts are responsible for performing a variety of microbiological tests, under the direction of a Laboratory Manager, to determine the presence of microorganisms in received surface, water, or air samples. Laboratory Analysts at EST are robust in their jobs, performing technician-level work, diagnostic, and analytical microbiology, and reagent chemistry.
EST Laboratory Analysts responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Performing Laboratory Technician & Analyst level work processing and analyzing samples for various microbiological organisms
Using EST’s Custom LIMS to enter and maintain data for our clients
Understanding, following, and completing protocols, procedures, and documents necessary for the position
Maintaining required quality and efficiency in all laboratory processes, and identifying any areas for improvement
Troubleshooting minor issues with laboratory equipment and processes
Working and communicating effectively with other Laboratory staff
EST Laboratory Analysts Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree (Arts or Science) in Biology, Chemistry or Related Science Field (required)
Experience with Microsoft Windows & Excel
Experience with basic laboratory tests and procedures (through study or prior work)
Experience (or at least comfortable) working with Hazardous Chemicals & Organisms (required)
Ability to follow written and oral instructions
Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time
Ability to perform under pressure of a fast-paced laboratory production environment with minimal supervision
This is a full-time position and is eligible for standard benefits after a brief waiting period. The position operates on the following shift on a rotating basis: the schedule for week 1 is Mon-Tues and Fri-Sun; the schedule for week 2 is Wed-Thurs. The laboratory operates weekends, so candidates must be willing to work occasional weekends.
