Pappy & Company is seeking to hire a Bourbon Barrel Craftsman to lead the expansion of our barrel made line, focusing on small accessories and furniture pieces made out of Pappy Van Winkle bourbon barrels. This is a newly created role that requires a blend of craftsmanship, creativity and attention to detail to ensure the highest commitment to quality. There is opportunity to grow the position along with the growth of the barrel made line. Responsibilities:

Barrel Disassembly: Oversee the disassembly of used bourbon barrels carefully, salvaging usable staves, hoops, and other components while ensuring minimal damage.

Quality Inspection: Inspect each component for defects, such as cracks, splits, or mold, and determine suitability for repurposing.

Craftsmanship: Utilize woodworking tools and techniques to craft various items from barrel staves, including but not limited to furniture pieces (chairs, tables, cabinets), home decor (mirrors, wall art, shelves), and accessories (candle holders, coasters, serving trays).

Design Implementation: Interpret design plans and specifications to create unique and aesthetically pleasing products that showcase the character and history of bourbon barrels.

Finishing: Apply finishes, stains, or sealants to enhance the appearance and durability of crafted items, ensuring a professional and polished final product.

Inventory Management: Work with our warehouse manager to maintain inventory of raw materials and finished products, tracking quantities and ensuring adequate supplies for production.

Quality Control: Conduct thorough quality checks throughout the crafting process to identify and address any imperfections or inconsistencies, maintaining high standards of quality and craftsmanship.

Collaboration: Work closely with team members to brainstorm ideas, troubleshoot challenges, and ensure seamless coordination in fulfilling customer orders.

Customer Service: Interact with customer service to understand customer feedback and address any inquiries or concerns, helping to ensure a positive and satisfying customer experience.

Requirements/Qualifications:

-Craftsmanship Skills: Proficiency in woodworking techniques, including sawing, sanding, drilling, and assembling, with a keen eye for detail and precision craftsmanship.

-Creativity: Ability to think creatively and innovatively to repurpose bourbon barrels into unique and appealing products that resonate with customers.

-Attention to Detail: Meticulousness in inspecting materials, executing designs, and ensuring the quality and consistency of finished products.

-Time Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and efficiently manage workflow in a fast-paced production environment.

-Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members.

-Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods, to handle the demands of barrel disassembly and woodworking.

-Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, work independently or as part of a team, and learn new skills or techniques as needed.

-Passion for Bourbon and Craftsmanship: A genuine interest in bourbon culture and appreciation for the artistry of craftsmanship, with a desire to create distinctive products that celebrate bourbon heritage.

-Motivated, self-starter mentality.

-Prior experience in woodworking, carpentry, or a related field is preferred.

-Training or certification in woodworking techniques or craftsmanship may be advantageous.
