Specific Responsibilities
Prepares and lays out materials for cutting and welding
Maintains and makes repair to welding all equipment
Identify shortages in material and equipment
7018 Stick welding, including the following:
Create quality welds according to blueprints (weld symbols)
Inspect welds for accuracy
Prepare product to be welded by grinding, drilling, milling, tapping and cutting steel/galvanized parts
Cleans and preps all welds for Painting
Lay out, align, and assemble fabricated metal products used in electrical poles, substations, and other structures
Perform repetitive types of assembling operations according to procedures established by others
Assemble structural units requiring little to no fitting
Use hand tools and measuring devices in the performance of work
Responsible for the proper packaging, identifying and moving of all finished products to the proper location
Ensure all equipment is properly set-up and used in a safe manner and that all safety devices are in use
Performs first piece inspections as well as all subsequent inspections
Education, Skills, and Experience
Minimum High School diploma or G.E.D.
AWS Certification
Minimum of 1 years welding experience, 2 years relevant construction experience
Thorough knowledge of the standard tools, equipment, materials, methods, and practices of the trade
Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of welding, steam fitting, and insulation trades
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with personnel of other departments
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and to work from sketches, diagrams, blueprints, and broken parts
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely
Skill in the use and care of tools and equipment used on work assignments
Construction knowledge; high energy level; professionalism
