Position Summary:
Provide website development support for University web and digital properties. Improve the EKU online experience by providing highly functional and technically effective solutions. Solves informational challenges through analysis of data and knowledge of database systems or understanding website design, programming languages, network software, and hardware, protocols, and policies at EKU. Remote work is an option for this position.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree required.
Related certifications that demonstrate level of skill preferred, but not required.
Minimum Experience:
One (1) year of front-end or back-end web development experience preferred.
Desired Qualifications:
Working knowledge of:
Windows, Linux, and Macintosh operating systems
User and file permissions in Linux, Windows, and Macintosh environments
Proficiency with:
XHTML, JavaScript, and CSS
Database administration and design with PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server and Oracle
Object oriented PHP programming in conjunction with database SQL programming
XML programming
Working knowledge of content management systems, such as Wordpress, Drupal, or Omni CMS
MAMP/LAMP
Apache
Internet browser developer tools
Current versions of Microsoft Active Directory
Job Functions:
Design, program and implement University website databases or interactive user interfaces. Perform testing of development projects, provide effective solutions for related university needs and implement tested solutions. Administer, maintain, upgrade, develop and troubleshoot the University’s web presence within the content management system. Attend meetings, communicate and collaborate with University contacts to manage website projects and requests. Supports the office functions by completing all other duties and special projects as assigned.
