Supplemental InformationDISTRICT 62- UNIT 750 JOB NUMBER: 62/DSS12/12496/10.01.24NMDISTRICT SIGN SPECIALIST 1 OR 2ABOUT THIS POSITIONThe District Sign Specialist position is located in DOTD District 62 and perform and oversee basic sign installation, replacement, and maintenance of signs on all State and Federal highways in accordance with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). These specialists are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and must perform their duties in all types of weather. The incumbent will participate in appropriate DOTD structured training programs as required and attend continuing education classes as deemed necessary. The incumbent is required to possess the following specialized knowledge, skills, abilities, as well the following.
A minimum lifting capability of 50+ pounds will be required for this position

District Sign Specialist 1 - $17.18/ HRNo experience or training is required.Candidates not possessing a Chauffer’s License (Class D) at the time of hire can be employed and will be notified in writing that documented proof of possession of the necessary permanent Chauffeurs license must be provided as a condition of employment during the probationary period (LA DOTD Probationary Period 12- 24 months) District Sign Specialist 2 -$19.67/ HRTwo years of experience in the installation and maintenance of traffic control devices. Learns to maintain daily work reports, materials used reports, truck inventory, and sign shop inventory. Assists in determining exact placement requirements for speed zones, weight limits and other regulatory signing.
