DETAIL: The selected employee may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.

PROBATIONAL APPOINTMENT : Current permanent status classified State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment, if selected.

TEMPORARY JOB APPOINTMENT : This position may be filled by temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.

SUBSTITUTIONS: Training as a mechanic from a trade school, vocational-technical school, or military school will substitute for a maximum of two years of the required experience. Training will be credited in six month increments. Job ConceptsFUNCTION OF WORK: To provide supervision, guidance, and logistical support in a mechanic repair shop. LEVEL OF WORK: Supervisor. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Direct from a Mechanic Supervisor B or other higher level personnel. SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Direct over mechanics. May supervise other shop personnel. LOCATION OF WORK: May be used by all state agencies. JOB DISTINCTIONS: Differs from Mechanic 4 by the presence of direct supervisory responsibility.
