Entry- level Ruby Developer
Position Description
CGI is looking for an entry-level developer to join our Federal Business Unit. The project is a Service Oriented Architecture-based network that handles the exchange of data between a government agency and its stakeholders (states, tribes, municipalities, private industry). The program builds, operates, and maintains this network and is responsible for building the data flows and environmental applications that operate on and integrate on the network. The goal of the project is to develop and modernize applications to improve usability, maintainability, performance, scalability, and enable a multiplatform user interface as well as adding multiple Industry-facing modules. The candidate selected for this role will have the opportunity to learn alongside a high-performing team to enhance development skills, learn new technologies, and build a career.
Your future duties and responsibilities
- Writing and reviewing source code using Agile development practices
- Participation in testing efforts, including unit testing code and verifying appliation deployments
- Training through partner programming, research, online courses, and practical application of new technologies
- Troubleshooting technical issues

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
Experience with the following technologies required:
• Ruby
• Rails
• JavaScript
• jQuery
• Basic Understanding of (HTML, CSS, Boostrap, HTTP, APIs)
• Comfort with Linux
• Basic understanding of how to work with relational databases (such as MySQL)
• Familiarity with Git
- Knowledge of the full software life cycle
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other technical discipline
Desired (but not required):
Cloud/AWS Certification, UI/UX, SAML, Apache, and/or Elastic Search
Knowledge and experience with Agile development methodology and scrum
Will accept candidates with a Masters degree in lieu of 1 year required job experience.
