ABOUT THE ROLEPosition: IT/Network Field Service EngineerLocation: Lake Charles or Sulphur, LouisianaTravel: Local travel to customer sites 75-85% We are seeking a Field Service Engineer with a strong IT, networking, and/or systems administration background within the Distributed Controls Sector to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical support and maintenance for complex Honeywell control systems, as well as performing IT/network-related services at customer locations in the Lake Charles and Sulphur areas in Louisiana. Your responsibilities will include managing and troubleshooting systems, networking, hardware, and software components within industrial environments.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Network & System Troubleshooting:
Perform field troubleshooting of IT network components including Ethernet, coaxial cabling, and associated network equipment (routers, switches, firewalls, etc.). Ensure seamless network connectivity and diagnose performance issues.
IT/Network Infrastructure Support:
Configure, maintain, and resolve technical issues related to Honeywell's Experion PKS, TPS/TDC300 systems, and related IT infrastructure. This includes ensuring proper network communications between control systems, servers, and end-user devices.
Hardware & Software Installation/Support:
Provide on-site installation, configuration, and troubleshooting support for Honeywell hardware (servers, workstations, controllers) and software. This includes managing updates, patches, and migrations for both control and IT systems.
Configuration Management:
Modify and update system configurations, including network protocols, system parameters, and device settings, to ensure compatibility between Honeywell control systems and IT infrastructure.
Customer Liaison & Technical Support:
Act as the primary contact for customers, providing expert technical guidance, solving issues, and recommending IT/network solutions based on Honeywell control systems and networking technologies.
Field Support & Training:
Deliver on-site support and troubleshooting for Honeywell systems, as well as training for customers' IT and operational staff on system and network management best practices.
Collaborate with Teams:
Work closely with Field Services Manager and other technical teams to identify and resolve issues, ensure timely service delivery, and recommend improvements to meet customer needs.
YOU MUST HAVE:
4+ years of experience in IT/Networking, system administration, or DCS (Distributed Control Systems) support, including experience with IT infrastructure (servers, networks, databases).
High School Diploma or equivalent, with relevant technical certifications or training.
WE VALUE:
An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
Proven experience with industrial control systems (such as Honeywell’s Experion PKS, TPS/TDC300, and associated network protocols).
Familiarity with IT/networking equipment, such as routers, switches, firewalls, and Ethernet communications.
Experience with system and network virtualization, server administration, and storage solutions.
Knowledge of modern networking technologies (LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, etc.) and their integration into industrial control systems.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex IT system issues under pressure.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Desirable Skills:
Experience in field service support for automation and control systems.
Familiarity with Honeywell products and services such as Experion PKS, TPS, and HMI/SCADA systems.
Experience with virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), cloud infrastructure, and system migration.
Exposure to control system protocols (Modbus, OPC, etc.) and experience with troubleshooting SCADA or PLC-based systems.
