Who We’re Looking For:
We’re seeking a skilled Kitchen Assistant with experience in seafood preparation, kitchen sanitation, and organization to work directly with our Chef. This role is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail who enjoys keeping a kitchen in order, maintaining high cleanliness standards, and helping prepare fresh seafood dishes.
Job Overview:
The Kitchen Assistant will be integral to kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, assisting with food preparation, and supporting the Chef with inventory, organization, and dishwashing duties. This role requires a well-rounded individual who is skilled in boiling seafood, maintaining kitchen organization, and ensuring compliance with food safety and sanitation guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Sanitation & Cleanliness:
Maintain a clean, organized workspace, including routine cleaning and sanitizing of kitchen surfaces and equipment.
Manage dishwashing duties, ensuring all cookware, dishes, and utensils are sanitized and stored properly.
Receiving & Inventory Management:
Assist in receiving and inspecting incoming ingredients, particularly seafood, to verify quality and freshness.
Organize and store inventory efficiently, ensuring items are correctly labeled and accessible.
Food Preparation Support:
Prepare ingredients and support the Chef with seafood boiling and other daily cooking tasks.
Inventory and maintain prep daily prep list items including: making and stocking house sauces, stuffing artichokes, breadcrumbs, etc
Prepare packaged food items for sale.
Follow all health and safety protocols, including proper food handling and storage practices.
Kitchen Organization:
Keep storage areas, coolers, and freezers organized.
Aid in the setup and breakdown of food stations for daily operations and catering preparation.
Qualifications:
Prior experience in a kitchen environment, with knowledge of seafood preparation (particularly boiling seafood).
Familiarity with kitchen sanitation and food safety protocols.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage tasks independently.
Food safety and sanitation certification preferred.
Positive attitude and a commitment to quality.
