Osteria Lupo proudly serves regional Northern Italian Cuisine highlighting regional ingredients in the heart of uptown New Orleans. We are looking for an experienced, motivated sous chef to join our culinary leadership team.
As Sous Chef, you’ll work closely with our Chef de Cuisine to lead the kitchen team, maintain our high standards of execution, and contribute to menu development. You’ll help oversee daily operations, manage prep and service flow, ensure quality control, and train and inspire staff. We’re seeking a hands-on leader with a strong background in Italian cuisine, kitchen operations, and team development. You are organized, creative, and driven by flavor, quality, and consistency. You lead by example, communicate clearly, and thrive in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment.
Responsibilities
Assist Chef de Cuisine in all aspects of kitchen management
Supervise and support line cooks, prep team, and dish staff
Maintain consistency, quality, and presentation across all dishes
Participate in menu planning and seasonal specials
Manage inventory, ordering, and food cost control
Enforce health, safety, and cleanliness standards
Lead by example during service, ensuring efficiency and positivity
Qualifications
3+ years in a leadership role in a professional kitchen
Strong understanding of seasonal, scratch cooking
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Proven ability to manage and motivate a team
Experience with ordering, inventory, and cost management
Passion for food, hospitality, and ongoing learning
