Our small team of Gulf seafood enthusiasts is looking for passionate, hardworking folks to join the crew. Porgy's Seafood Market is a retail space and restaurant that showcases the diversity and abundance of the Gulf Coast with an emphasis on sustainable, wild-caught seafood. Porgy’s is the only market of its kind to connect New Orleans consumers directly with Louisiana’s many independent fisheries. The market offers fresh-cut filets & whole fish alongside shrimp, oysters, crabs, and seasonal delicacies like crawfish. To accompany, we offer a small bar program of fresh seasonal fruit daiquiris, aperitifs, beet & wine. An ever expanding retail program includes grab & go items, specialty sauces, spice blends & so much more.
The Fish Monger is a hybrid FOH and BOH position that requires someone who can navigate between working the retail case and providing thorough counter service to dine-in guests. This includes knife skills, POS knowledge, simple beverage knowledge & oyster shucking. These skills are not requirements to get the job but you must be willing to learn all of these things on the job. We love to learn and are happy to teach as long as you are eager.
We also have a few kitchen shifts that we are looking to fill. We are happy to cross-train the right candidate on both the kitchen and the fish counter.

Compensation is based on experience and starts at $15/hr + tips (we are a whole house tip pool with rarely more than four people in the pool)
