Summary:
- St. James Cheese Company is a full cheese shop and small restaurant. We are looking for enthusiastic, positive people to join our Wholesale team. We’re excited to have you grow with our company! At St. James we strive to empower and grow cheese fascinations into cheese careers.
Desired Team Qualities:
- Prior cheese knowledge and experience is not required, but is a plus.
- Prior sales experience is not required, but is a plus.
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Curiosity and passion about cheese, meat, and other specialty food items is required. Cheese mongers are the bridge between small farmers and the everyday customer or chefs. We want to be able to tell their stories well.
- Open minds and open palates, are encouraged. You will be tasting a wide variety of cheeses, meats and specialty products.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills wanted. Our Wholesale team works closely with Chefs around the city to bring them unique, quality products from around the world. The Wholesale staff works to keep a calm and professional demeanor throughout the day.
- Must be flexible and available to work from our Uptown location, as well as, our Warehouse in Midcity between the hours of 7a-5pm Monday thru Saturday (you will have two days off a week)
- Must be self-motivated, organized, detailed oriented, hardworking, and team oriented.
Job Responsibilities:
- As Wholesale team members, we are expected to be able to juggle many things including, but not limited to:
- Receiving shipments
- Navigating customer relations
- Taking and putting together orders from Wholesale customers
- Delivering orders around New Orleans
- This is a physical work environment. Team members are expected to be able to lift 40-80+ pounds and break down large wheels of cheese.

- Offering Educational Stipend Program. After 24 months, all employees are eligible for an educational stipend of up to $500 to expand and improve their expertise in their chosen field. After 36 months, the stipend is increased to $2000. More details available during interview process.
