Introduction:
Axle Tuners is looking for an experienced, self-sufficient Class 8 mobile diesel technician based in the New Orleans area. This is not an entry-level role. You will provide assistance to less experienced technicians and trainees, work outdoors - often in inclement weather conditions, have high autonomy, primarily performing steering, suspension, axle, brake, bearing, and hub repairs on Class 8 semi-trucks and trailers at customer locations and other authorized sites. If you have existing experience, can do this kind of work efficiently with very limited supervision, and enjoy being on the road, we want to talk.
Minimum requirements:
Minimum 3 years of direct experience (can be a combination of formal training and/or work) with Class 8 semi-truck steering, suspension, and wheel-end systems
Air brake certification or the ability to demonstrate the required knowledge and immediately pass a certification test
Proven ability to perform axle, brake, hub, and bearing repairs independently
We can provide all tools; however, if you provide your own, this will be factored into total pay (specialty tools, work truck, and equipment are all provided by the company)
Valid driver’s license with generally clean record (having a CDL is a plus but not required)
Comfortable working outdoors in MOST weather conditions (within standard safety guidelines)
The ability to regularly handle the physical requirements of the job, including heavy lifting, pulling, pushing, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing in and out of trucks, crawling/lying under vehicles, etc.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work without direct supervision
Fully conversational, professional proficiency in English (ILR level 4)
Strong customer service skills as you will routinely interact directly with customers while in the field
For maximum compensation you must have or be willing to learn basic welding skills and attain (company-paid) certification so that you can perform spindle replacements, brake spider replacements, and handle minor fabrication and repair

Ability or willingness to learn to train, coach, and manage other employees is a strong plus for those who seek growth opportunities
In-person selling skills (warm and cold call) to help drive our business by directly approaching prospective or previous customers in the field
Perform multi-day travel, as requested, for up to 1-2 weeks per month as we expand and grow our business
