Urban Farmer and Warehouse Supervisor
Enterprise Aquatics has a position open for a farm and warehouse supervisor. We grow food using aquaponics. We operate recirculating aquaculture, and hydroponic growing systems on our urban farm in Marrero. We provide tours and training in addition to building aquaponic systems and components. We have a team culture and are looking to add a member who can communicate well while being able to work independently. We are passionate about growing food, aquaponics, and urban farming. We provide on-the-job training as well, and there are opportunities for advancement.
Duties include:
Warehouse/ growing areas- maintain cleanliness and organization
Maintain grounds and warehouse- littler, grass mowing/weedeating, application of OMRI Herbicide
Record keeping
Fish feeding, fish system maintenance
Water testing
Seeding on schedule
Transfer plant starts
Trim, observe, and trellis plants
Harvest and package- deliver produce
Pest management in warehouse and growing systems
Receive and store shipments- package and motor freight
Assemble aquaponic systems, and prepare components
Manage inventory of tools and supplies
Request timely purchases
Weekend monitoring of systems
Assist in preparing for tours
Other duties and responsibilities as needed
Requirements:
A positive attitude with a passion for urban farming
Motivated to work independently and able to take direction/critique.
Work safely in heat- hydration, manage breaks, pacing, with lifting up to 50 lbs
Knowledge of tools and basic PVC plumbing
Stay on task
Observe, research/review, and act
Take direction and communicate with team
Basic knowledge of horticulture/gardening
Independent transportation
Preferred:
Basic knowledge and function Microsoft, Google Docs, Sheets, Gmail
Clean driving record
Greenhouse experience
Adaptable with strong problem-solving skills
Excellent time management and planning skills with attention to detail
