Box 5191Pineville, Louisiana 71360Jimmie.Bernard@la.gov QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:A baccalaureate degree plus three years of professional level habilitation experience.SUBSTITUTIONS:Experience in the care, guidance or training of the developmentally disabled will substitute for the required degree on the basis of 30 semester hours for one year of experience.Graduate training in education will substitute for a maximum of one year of the required experience on the basis of thirty semester hours for one year of experience.NOTE: Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.Job ConceptsFunction of Work:To supervise the delivery of an evaluation and training program area.Level of Work:Supervisor.Supervision Received:Broad review from a higher-level agency official.Supervision Exercised:Direct over subordinate paraprofessional or professional staff.Location of Work:Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH), Office for Citizens with Developmental Disabilities (OCDD).Job Distinctions:Differs from that of other Habilitation Instructor classes by the presence of supervisory responsibilities.Examples of WorkServes in the capacity of a training center manager.Evaluates employees using appropriate guidelines.Conducts and attends departmental staff meetings.Prepares, conducts, and requests special in-service training sessions.Represents the department at weekly divisional habilitation planning committee meetings.Publishes duty schedule and supervises implementation.Screens and suggests orders for supplies and equipment and maintains inventory of same.Approves leave.Writes requests for repairs, maintenance, and service.Supervises instruction and instructs classes in absence of regular instructor.Acts as clearing-house for paperwork involving a moderate-sized facility to insure fulfillment of habilitation plans and compliance with established standards.Initiates or assists instructors in planning, writing, and coordinating a training program for each resident. This includes designing or selecting and obtaining appropriate media and evaluating residents' progress.Approves or initiates all schedule changes and residents enrolled in program.Evaluates and assigns new participants to an appropriate instructor.Publishes a weekly update of all changes in enrollment.Audits progress reports of assigned division for compliance with accepted standards.Replies to requests for information concerning scheduling, progress, etc., from other departments.Completes assignment of related duties made by the immediate supervisor that is considered necessary for smooth operation of the department.May assume duties of the supervisor of program in his or her absence.Louisiana State Government represents a wide variety of career options and offers an outstanding opportunity tomake a differencethrough public service.
