Actively participate in continuous improvement activities.Job DescriptionCMF MACHINIST 2YRESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The following will be performed under the direction of a CMF Team Leader, CMF Machinist, or supervisor:

Diagnose trouble, repair, overhaul, and maintain mechanical equipment such as that found in power plants Create and maintain documentation of repairs made.

Operate machine shop and portable machine equipment such as lathes, shapers, drill presses, milling machines, boring bars and similar machining equipment on all shapes including those not readily machined on standard machine tools under the direction of journeyman or supervisor. Develop simple jigs and fixtures as necessary and performing precision fitting of component parts as required. Routinely perform general machine work to a tolerance of plus or minus 0.002?.

Performs all work in accordance with shop safety and quality standards?completes required paper work and facilitates appropriate record keeping. Has skilled abilities needed to maintain shop equipment.

Perform electric arc and oxyacetylene structural welding to repair equipment. Perform oxyacetylene cutting, heating, and brazing piping and structural components. Work requiring the use of a certified welder is excluded.

Operate, as required, material handling equipment such as fork trucks and overhead cranes.

Erect and remove scaffolding and perform rigging, lifting and blocking.

Operate automotive equipment and it's associated equipment and perform duties incidental to the operation of such equipment.

Prepare, update, and maintain records and documentation as required.

Maintain equipment, tools and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.

Report irregularities and abnormal conditions to the appropriate supervision.

Train for and carry out assignments related to the emergency response plan.

Support AEP's cultural goals and expectations.

Assist employees as required

Perform similar or less skilled work as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Education:High School Diploma or GED. Associate degree or certificate of completion in machine shop practice.Experience:Without degree, 3 yrs applicable experience in addition to HS diploma or GED With accredited, Associates degree (2 years) two years applicable experience: With Certificate of Completion (18 months) and two years applicable experience. Completion of AEP Apprentice progression from CMF machinist, 1st year. Job experience relative to this position: Steel mills, paper mills, nuclear, nuclear navy service, chemical, oil refinery, power plant, machine shop, or similar industry where machinist duties were performed.Licenses/Certifications: Must possess the appropriate State driver's licenseOTHER REQUIREMENTS:Successful completion of the Power Plant Maintenance Selection System (MASS) test is required for this position.
