Description:
The role involves working with school district transportation directors and routing personnel to develop efficient school bus routes, assigning students to bus stops.
This includes creating routes for safe student transportation to and from school and activities within established bell times and local standards of practice. The position also entails analyzing data for vehicle capacity, timing, road systems, and safety to develop efficient bus routes and schedules.
Essential Job Functions:
Incredible attention to detail
Amazing computer skills
Analyzing vehicle, timing, and road system data to plan school bus routes and schedules.
Adjusting routes as necessary, including for special programs, and field testing schedules and routes.
Solving issues like overcrowding and load balancing to meet bell schedules.
Working with staff on challenging assignments, including for special needs students and specialty programs.
Reviewing and processing bus stop review requests.
Using routing software for planning and adjusting routes and maintaining transportation information on the website.
Preparing and maintaining necessary forms and reports.
Communicating effectively with various stakeholders including public, school staff, and parents.
Assisting with special projects related to bell schedules and school zone attendance boundaries.
Comfortable with overnight travel for on-site work at schools
Qualifications:
Working knowledge of transportation planning, scheduling, operations, and office procedures.
Familiarity with state and local school bus operation laws and regulations.
Proficiency in using computers, including word processing, spreadsheet, and routing software.
Ability to operate a large vehicle safely in various conditions.
Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
Salary: The salary range for this position is between $35,825 and $55,141
