Frye Island Ferry Operations/ Ferry Supervisor / Raymond, Maine
Frye Island Ferry System, located on beautiful Sebago Lake, provides ferry transportation to Frye Island servicing the local community and vacationers throughout the season.
Reporting to the Town Manager, the Ferry Operations Supervisor is responsible for day-to-day operation of the ferry system during the season, including hiring, training and oversight of staff, operation and routine maintenance of the ferry boats, compliance with procedures to ensure safety and reliability, and use of the ticketing system. The Ferry Supervisor may also serve as a backup captain, mate or ticket agent when needed.

Requirements for the Ferry Operations Supervisor:
High school diploma
Documented training or experience in operations management or scheduling and supervision is desirable.
Familiarity with transport vessel operation is preferred
Experience with MS Office or other computer software systems.
Working knowledge of ferry systems, boating vessels, operating procedures, communications, equipment, schedules and staffing is preferred
Ability to be trained to act as a ferryboat captain or mate as required.
Proven ability to organize and coordinate the activities of others.
Ability to communicate clearly with strong written and verbal skills.
Ability to think and act independently as well as to seek or accept direction as appropriate.
Flexibility and responsiveness - capacity to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities.
Strong collaborative and customer service orientation.
Ability to maintain clear and accurate records and maintain compliance
Responsibilities of the Ferry Operations Supervisor:
Schedule crew staffing and operation of ferries in accordance with the published schedule, including managing on-call coverage and communicating recommendations to the Town Manager as needed.
Serve as a backup captain, mate or ticket agent as warranted.
Maintain and ensure compliance with ferry system operating procedures
Maintain all records related to ferry operation, including crew schedules, maintenance logs, and ferry use data as required.
Maintain proficiency with the Ferry ticketing and fee collection system, serve as a training and troubleshooting resource. Ensure that devices and software remain up-to-date and operational, and that information entered is accurate.
Ensure proper qualification and training of ferry captains and mates; maintain training and proficiency records as required.
Alert the Town Manager and other relevant personnel to any condition that might affect the safe and reliable performance of the ferry system.
Review employee time records for accuracy for payroll submission.
Review employee performance with Town Manager; recommend any appropriate measures to improve competence or effectiveness.
Participate with Town Manager in employee selection and hiring as appropriate.
Provide input and recommendations to Town Manager on needed expenditures and budget requirements.
Maintain an ongoing knowledge of the operational status of ferryboats and related equipment including docking, communications and navigational equipment. Alert the Town Manager or take other appropriate action with regard to any repairs or maintenance required.
Participate and collaborate with DPW and other personnel as needed in repair or maintenance activities including inspections, haul-out and winterization tasks.
Help ensure coordination and collaboration with emergency agencies, law enforcement and DPW personnel in emergencies requiring ferry service.
