Haven's Candies has full time opening at our Westbrook, Maine candy factory for a Lead Candy Maker. This is a year round position, not seasonal. Your work schedule will be 40 hours per week Monday- Friday 7am-3:30pm most of the year. You can expect additional weekend hours and overtime around and leading up to the major candy holidays (Christmas, Valentine's Day and Easter).
Prior food production and food service experience is mandatory and a minimum of 3-5 years of management experience is required. The qualified candidate will be a self-starter, be able to work independently as well as promote a team environment amongst the production crew.
Making candy by hand is hard work, and involves a lot of standing, bending, twisting working on older machinery (being mechanically minded is a plus!) and lifting. You should be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs at a time and be on your feet all day. A keen attention to detail is a requirement. You must be capable of reading and following a recipe, weighing ingredients both accurately and neatly, and have good hand-eye coordination.
