The Portland Regency Hotel & Spa is looking for a Food Runner / Room Service / Host/Hostess to join our team! A beautiful Historic Hotel of America located in the heart of Portland's Old Port District.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following, but other duties may be assigned.

Runner:

1. Run food as quickly and efficiently as possible to the restaurant or café.

2. Responsible for assisting in bringing trays of dirty dishes and glassware from wait station. Assisting in stocking wait station.

3. Assist in dining room if needed, resetting tables and seating people if needed.

4. To communicate with the host and servers at all times.

5. To keep all work areas clean and stocked for the next shift.

6. Cleaning kitchen area at the end of your shift, wiping down all surface areas.

7. Put out and refill salad dressings at the beginning of lunch and dinner shift.

8. Clean toaster at the end of the shift (breakfast) Clean bread area (dinner)

9. To assist Room Service attendant with coffee calls, if needed.

Room Service:

1. Responsible for delivering any morning coffee calls as specified by the Front Desk.

2. Responsible for retrieving all trays in a timely fashion.

3. Restock items for the next shift.

4. Wash/clean coffee call trays and containers.

5. Responsible for reporting to all scheduled shifts on time and in full uniform.

6. Responsible for answering and taking all phone orders.

7. Responsible for placing orders.

8. Setting up a tray or cart for food delivery, with all necessary utensils.

9. Inspect all food and beverage products to ensure they meet room service specifications.

10. Re-stocks room service area at the end of each shift.

11. Responsible for having knowledge of daily specials.

12. Responsible for the delivery of all VIP orders during your shift.

13. Run food as quickly and efficiently as possible to the restaurant or café.

14. Responsible for assisting in bringing trays of dirty dishes and glassware from the wait station. Assisting in stocking wait station.

15. Assist in the dining room if needed, resetting tables and seating people if needed.

16. To communicate with the host and servers at all times.

17. To keep all work areas clean and stocked for the next shift.

18. Cleaning kitchen area at the end of your shift, wiping down all surface areas.

19. Put out and refill salad dressings at the beginning of lunch and dinner shift.

20. Clean toaster at the end of the shift (breakfast)

Host/ess:

1. Responsible for hanging the Specials Board for outside display. Sandwich board out prior to lunch starting and bring in sign after dinner.

2. Responsible for greeting and escorting guests to their table, providing menus, assisting guests with their chairs, water, and coffee (a.m. only).

3. Checking and hanging guests’ coats if necessary.

4. Answer the telephone and assist with dining room reservations.

5. At all times, you are responsible for helping server’s bus/set tables.

6. Responsible for keeping host station clean, including checking, and replacing soiled menus.

7. Assists servers in changing over tables for the next meal period.

8. Responsible for attending all meetings required by your manager.

9. always Maintaining your post at the podium.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Mathematical Skills

The ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide by 10’s and 100’s. The ability to perform these operations, using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.

Education and/or Experience

Less than a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); or up to one month related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

The ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in required. Also required is the ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Lastly the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of this organization shall be required as well.

Reasoning Ability

The ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Also, the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations shall be required as a job description.
