The Sous Chef at Maine Beer Company is responsible for creating and maintaining a high quality food experience in the Tasting Room. This individual is responsible for helping facilitate a professional and positive work environment. The Sous Chef reports directly to the Head Chef, and will work alongside the Head Chef to create both unique and classic wood-fired pizzas, among other offerings. Salary is based on experience. Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist Head Chef in food service and day-to-day operations

Maintain positive attitude and team morale

Create / oversee kitchen schedule

Work with Head Chef to develop and maintain menu

Complete the duties of a line cook when needed, and capable of working all kitchen positions

Ensure food is prepared and plated to Head Chef’s expectations

Order ingredients and supplies

Ensure kitchen is clean and organized

Monitor food cost and sales data

Ensure food is stored in compliance with health and safety regulations

Monitor time and attendance for food service staff

Assist with hiring and training kitchen staff

Facilitate positive customer service at all times

Establish and maintain kitchen SOPs

Maintain the appropriate kitchen licensing and follow state guidelines

Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to MBC core values

Consistently hold the food service team accountable to MBC core values

Qualifications:

Proven proficient culinary experience

Strong leadership and management experience

Pizza and wood-fired cooking experience is a plus

Ability to work well in a fast-paced, high volume kitchen

ServSafe certification

Physical stamina to withstand a full shift on their feet

Good communication skills

Comfortable using a computer and operating standard office software
