This is a unique entry-level opportunity for those interested in joining the Building Trades and Structural Services Industry. We will provide extensive on-the-job training across a wide range of construction tasks and techniques, including timber framing, shoring, concrete formwork, metal fabrication, excavating/earth-moving, structural stonework, and foundation repair.

Within your first 12-months with Atlantic Structural, you will work extensively with our Project Manager to develop and refine carpentry and general construction skills suited specifically to the building preservation/repair field. With active, hands-on training, you will learn how to identify and assess structural defects, develop solutions to address those defects, and implement a comprehensive repair plan alongside our Lifting and Structural Teams. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ Be a professional, honest, and trustworthy ambassador of Atlantic Structural, yourself, and your colleagues;

+ Learn to identify, document, and address the scope and extent of structural defects;

+ Work alongside the Structural and Lift teams to determine and implement effective repair strategies;

+ Perform carpentry-based repair tasks with precision and attention to detail;

+ Install formwork, piers, columns, shear supports, posts/capitals, various joints, and other structural operations utilizing appropriate fasteners, best-practices;

+ Excavate around foundation footings and for appropriate drainage measures;

+ Construct and install French drains, storm drains, sump pumps, and drainage fields as needed;

+ Construct concrete formwork for pouring new foundation walls and footings;

+ Install cribbing, steel beams, and bracing in preparation for building lifts;

+ Maintain a high level of craftsmanship and adherence to company performance standards;

+ Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.

REQUIREMENTS:

+ Reliability, integrity, and desire to learn;

+ Knowledge of construction materials, tools, and techniques;

+ General familiarity with common construction principles and best practices;

+ Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills;

+ Ability to work well in a team and communicate respectfully;

+ Strong attention to detail;

+ Valid driver's license and reliable transportation;

+ Ability to pass a background check;

+ Ability to lift and move objects weighing 50 lbs.

PREFERRED:

+ 1-3 experience as a carpenter or carpenter’s helper;

+ Experience with excavation, hardscaping, or erosion control, including arborist work, equipment operation, or exterior stonework;

+ Experience working with timber, concrete, or steel building materials;

+ Comfort level driving 1-ton trucks & handling trailer loads;

+ General familiarity with building layouts and terminology;

+ Personal initiative and ability to complete tasks with minimal oversight.

REPORTING:

This position reports to the Project Manager, who will provide needed guidance and support through training and development. You will learn from experienced professionals.
