ARTIST MENTOR (DSP)
The Art Department (a program of Creative Trails) is a non-profit alternative art space for adults with intellectual uniqueness in downtown Portland, Maine. We are a leadership program that provides materials, creative training, an upbeat and positive studio environment, and individual support based on the independent hopes and dreams of our artists. Our focus is on community engagement, professional development, skill building, and participating in the local arts scene by hosting gallery shows and live events.
Our ideal candidate is an artist themselves, of any medium. At The Art Department we focus on an array of skills such as filmmaking, animation, printmaking, studio fine art (painting and drawing), and everything in-between!

This is a FULL-TIME position Monday-Friday (with occasional evening and weekend events) 36 hours a week. $13/hr plus health benefits.

Applicants should:
* Have a valid Maine driverâs license and reliable transportation
* Enjoy artistic practice and encouraging the artistic practice of others
* Have a positive outlook, deep patience, and a knack for creative problem solving
* Have the ability to multitask and be flexible with routine
* Have experience in fine arts, general craftiness, and be willing to learn new techniques
* Have interest in community engagement and public art projects
* Art or art education degree is preferred, but not required
* Have experience or interest in supporting individuals with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities
