Preble Street’s Emergency Food Services help meet the nutritional needs of our community members through our Food Security Hub, Mobile Food Services, Food Pantry, and shelter-based meal service sites. Preble Street has adapted how it provides food services to effectively meet the food needs of people experiencing homelessness and food insecurity—and our team of food services professionals work together in our innovative Food Programs toward achieving our goals to address and end hunger in our communities.

Preble Street is currently seeking a full-time Warehouse and Distribution Staff to work with the Food Programs team to ensure that our community members have access to nutritious, delicious food every day. Working with a dedicated, diverse team of staff members and volunteers, this hands-on position will be directly involved in food pick up and distribution with Preble Street vehicles; work on-site at the agency’s warehouse, kitchens, and pantry spaces; maintain orderly systems of receiving donated and purchased food; provide guidance and leadership with volunteers and new staff; and make meaningful contributions to our high-quality, mission-focused meal service through a range of Food Programs tasks.

The schedule for this full-time (40 hours/week), 1st shift position is Sunday - Thursday, 8:00am to 4:00pm.

Candidates with any combination of training and/or work experience likely to provide skills or ability to perform successfully in the position of Warehouse and Distribution Staff position will be considered. Specific qualifications include:

Alignment with Preble Street’s mission, positive regard for individuals accessing services for homelessness and poverty, and a commitment to providing low-barrier services.

Strong organizational and communication skills, and experience working in a team setting with a diverse population.

Knowledge of food safety practices and storage.

Availability to work weekends and consistent, reliable attendance at work as scheduled.

Ability to drive a small cargo truck with a valid driver’s license and an acceptable motor vehicle record.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position, with a pay rate of $19.91/hour. Generous paid time off, insurance, and retirement plan benefits include:

4 weeks (160 hours, accrued) vacation time, 12 days (96 hours, accrued) sick time, 16 hours personal time, 12 Paid Holidays
