We have a driver moving on to a new career path at the end of the summer, so the time has come to bring on a new member of our self-distributed wholesale team.
This driver will be working Monday-Friday delivering Bissell Brothers’ beer all throughout the state of Maine. As a self-distributed brewery, this person understands they are a representative of the brand and in addition to executing the nuts and bolts of the role, this person will go the extra mile for accounts and problem solving in real time. This position requires the ability to routinely lift up to 160 lbs, ability to spend long hours on the road, a flexible and agreeable approach, and a general enthusiasm for the brewing process and beer industry. This position reports directly to the Director of Wholesale, but also takes direction from the Fleet and Warehouse Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Ability to honor Bissell Brothers Brewing values and work as a team player.
Interpersonal communication skills are a must
Proficiency in navigating throughout Maine preferred, while driving cargo vans and box trucks
Most routes will be solo, so an autonomous work ethic and inherent trust is compulsory
Must be confident lifting 60160 lbs
Commercial driving history preferred
Must be comfortable moving throughout active kitchen/bar spaces
Other tasks as necessary
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Current driver’s license required.
Must be able to pass Driver’s Record Check
Ability to safely run, maneuver, navigate, and drive a vehicle
Maintain vehicles in good working condition
Ability to listen and talk to others to convey information effectively
Previous experience in distribution preferred
General beer and brewery knowledge experience preferred
Ability to be trained on Bissell Brothers Inventory
Ability to carry on an existing interest in beer and core understanding of beer industry in Maine
Ability to honor Bissell Brothers Brewing Values and work as a team player
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask responsibilities routinely
Must be of legal age to work with and serve alcohol
Alcohol Responsibility; full understanding that they are a representative of not only BBB, but of the alcohol beverage industry and must honor the BBB responsible use policy
Desire to honor Bissell Brothers Brewing Values and work as a team player
Physical Demands and Work Environment
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. This position will require sitting in a vehicle for long periods of time. There is also regular lifting of cases of beer up to and including 160 lb kegs of beer. There will be some exposure to moderate to loud noise. This position will operate a forklift and pallet jack to load and unload vehicles daily. The use of hands and arms to reach for, grasp and manipulate objects is required. May inadvertently bump into team members and customers in relatively small work areas. Will stand and walk for extended periods of time.
Compensation
$23/hr in the door
$25/hr discretionary pay change after 3 months satisfactory performance
