Sweetgrass Winery & Distillery is hiring for a part-time seasonal retail position in our Portland tasting room, Sweetgrass Old Port. Are you enthusiastic about the greater Portland food scene? Are you detail oriented and self motivated? Do you love gin?
This position helps guests by serving flights of wines and spirits from our small tasting bar and performing general customer service tasks. This position requires basic computer skills, strong communication skills and the ability to work independently. The ideal candidate will be interested in growing into a future outside sales role.
Responsibilities include:
- Welcoming all tasting room guests;
- Conducting walk-in and/or reserved tastings;
- Providing exceptional service – answering questions and anticipating needs
- Educating guests on wines, spirits, Sweetgrass Winery & Distillery, etc.;
- Using POS system to facilitate retail purchases;
- Occasionally staffing special events;
- Maintaining high standards of quality control, hygiene, health and safety;
Other duties may be required as they arise.
Hours will ramp up starting in spring and aim to stay steady through the summer and holiday season (7 – 21 hours/weekly). Weekends are generally required, but nights are very rare. We strive to offer consistent scheduling on the same days each week so that employees can best maintain their outside lives. Base pay starts at $17/hour, plus tips.
