Seeking someone with skills and experience in sailing and sail rigging.
We are looking for a conscientious and dedicated person (or two) skilled in several aspects of boating for a seasonal position. The position requires versatility and flexibility, the jobs change, the locations change, the customers change, the weather changes. We are specifically seeking someone with sailing experience, but any experience painting, varnishing, woodworking, working with marine electronics, and general boating knowledge is a plus. We are a very diverse business and are seeking diverse applicants.
Sailing knowledge is key as you will be responsible for the seasonal prep and rigging of small sailboats like Herreshoff 12.5s, Pearson Ensigns, Stone Horse 23s, North Haven Dinghies, etc.
Must be:
. . .comfortable with physical labor
. . .capable of running boats up to 25' (no license required, though could be a bonus)
. . .skilled with hand and power tools
. . .comfortable taking on a variety of boatyard related jobs
. . .comfortable communicating with a wide range of customers
. . .able to multi-task
. . .able to work well with a diverse group and on solo projects
. . .able to find solutions to complicated problems, improvising when necessary
. . .capable of planning and executing self-directed projects
Time frame:
- We are accepting applications now
- We will make hiring decisions as qualified candidates become available
- Position start and end dates are flexible (between 5.1.19 - 10.01.19)
Pay:
- Competitive pay based on experience
NOTE: Housing is extremely difficult to secure on North Haven in the summer, so Brown's Boatyard offers brand new tiny houses at the lowest rates on island.
