Hay Runner is growing our in-house millwork team, and we’re looking for an Assistant Millwork Manager who brings equal parts craftsmanship, leadership, and technical drafting skill. This role supports our Millwork Manager and plays a key part in delivering the detailed, high-quality custom work Hay Runner is known for.

What You’ll Do:
Build complex, custom millwork with accuracy, consistency, and pride.
Apply deep knowledge of joinery, materials, finishing methods, and both traditional + modern woodworking techniques.
Review, interpret, and verify shop drawings and technical details before fabrication.
Uphold exceptional quality standards through all phases of milling, assembly, and finishing.
Create and refine shop drawings, cut lists, CNC files, and production details.
Translate design intent into clear, buildable documentation for the shop.
Provide mentorship and hands-on guidance to junior staff.
Support workflow planning and help keep production moving smoothly.
Promote a culture of craftsmanship, learning, respect, and teamwork.
Ensure millwork production stays aligned with construction schedules and material lead times.
Communicate proactively with the Millwork Manager about progress, needs, and challenges.
Help maintain a clean, organized, well-functioning shop.
Support safety training, PPE use, and machine operation standards.
Assist with equipment maintenance, tool calibration, and repairs.
Coordinate with the Millwork Manager to place timely, accurate orders.
Keep supply areas and the materials library organized and efficient.
What You Bring:
5+ years in fine woodworking, cabinetry, or architectural millwork.
Strong drafting ability (CAD experience, CNC familiarity, or similar preferred).
Deep technical knowledge of woodworking methods, materials, and safety practices.
A natural leadership style that supports, teaches, and elevates the team.
Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
Commitment to craftsmanship and a drive to keep learning and improving.
