Maine academic book publisher is seeking freelance proofreader to proofread and correct final galleys of academic books in the field of education. Myers Education Press (www.myersedpress.com) publishes library books and textbooks for colleges of education in the United States and around the world. Our rapid growth requires us to expand our roster of freelancers as we add new books to our front list.
Qualified candidates should have experience in proofreading projects with larger page counts (chapter- or book-length works). The majority of our titles are edited according to APA style, but candidates should be familiar with Chicago and MLA styles as well. All proofing is performed digitally, working from PDF printer files. Assignments are for proofreading final proofs for errors in spelling and language, adding author queries when necessary, and checking citations against reference sections. A familiarity with education content is a plus.
This is a remote freelance position, so there is no requirement to come to our office.
Our rate of pay is $1.50 per finished book page. Assignments range from 100-500 pages. Interested candidates should submit a resume and cover letter. Qualified candidates will be invited to take a proofreading test to determine suitability.
