AECOM is actively seeking a mid-level geologist for employment in the Portland, ME office to be a task leader for a variety of environmental projects (i.e., Remedial Investigations and Site Investigations) for primarily Federal sector clients with a primary focus on projects involving PFAS or per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances. PFAS are a set of emerging contaminants for which AECOM foresees a significant growth in its business. In this important position, the successful candidate will support Project Managers as part of a multi-disciplinary project team.Under the supervision of a Project Manager, the successful candidate will:Task manage portions of a larger project.Assist in managing and coordinating complex field tasks involving groundwater monitoring, drilling, and remedial activities.Provide technical direction and safety oversight to a team of multi-disciplinary AECOM scientists on large field investigations.Assist with technical report writing tasks with the support of junior staff.Assist with proposal writing and cost estimating.Assist with preparing permits and access agreements with public agencies and other stakeholders.Interact with clients including preparation and presentation of briefings.Assist with preparing remedial designs and overseeing implementation of remedial actions.Qualified candidates must be comfortable with travel. Field work will be required, including oversight of AECOM staff and subcontractorAnticipated division of job-related tasks is about a 80/20 percent split between field and office work.The ideal candidate must be able to work with discipline independently, effectively lead junior staff while working in a collaborative team-environment, foster team building through respect, inclusion, and mentorship, display a high level of organization and communication, and demonstrate a strong desire to learn from Project Managers.
