Position Title: Part-time Faculty in Studio Arts (Ceramics, Sculpture, and Foundations) Campus: Presque Isle Department: English Communications & Art - IENAT Location: Presque Isle ME Bargaining Unit: PATFA Work Schedule: Varies Statement of the Job: The University if Maine at Presque Isle is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Part-Time Faculty member to join our Studio Arts Department, specifically within the disciplines of Ceramics, Sculpture, and Foundations. This role is designed for an individual passionate about educating and inspiring undergraduate students pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree. The successful candidate will bring a rich blend of professional practice, theoretical knowledge, and pedagogical skills to foster creativity, technical proficiency, and critical thinking among students. Key Responsibilities: Teaching: Deliver engaging and comprehensive lectures, workshops, and studio sessions in Ceramics, Sculpture, and Foundations courses. Prepare course materials, assignments, and assessments tailored to students' educational needs and the program's curriculum goals. Curriculum Development: Collaborate with advisor and other faculty members to review, develop, and enhance the curriculum. Ensure the integration of contemporary practices, techniques, and critical issues in studio arts. Student Support: Provide constructive, timely feedback and guidance to students on their artistic projects and academic progress. Supervise Ceramics Interns (as available). Hold regular office hours and mentor students in developing their artistic voice and professional practice. Exhibition and Program Support: Participate in supporting student exhibitions and departmental events. Contribute to the promotion of the Studio Arts program through active engagement in academic and artistic communities. Professional Development: Maintain an active professional practice in the arts and engage in scholarly activities that contribute to the field of studio arts. Share insights and developments with students and colleagues. Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in Ceramics, Sculpture, or a related field (or in an accredited MFA program).

Demonstrated excellence in artistic practice with a strong portfolio in Ceramics, Sculpture, and/or Foundations.

Proven experience teaching at the college or university level.

Familiarity with contemporary art practices, critical theory, and materials and techniques relevant to Ceramics and Sculpture.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with a diverse student, faculty and staff body.

Commitment to fostering an inclusive educational environment that supports the development of all students.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with teaching utilizing a Learning Management System.
