Institutional StipendOpen: September 28, 2020Close: Octerber 13, 2020CURRENT VACANCY INFORMATIONThe Department of Corrections has a current vacancy for a Correctional Building Maintenance Superintendent located at the Maine State Prison in Warren, Maine. This position is open to current Maine DOC personnel and all outside candidates.JOB DESCRIPTIONThe Correctional Building Maintenance Supervisor, is structure and craft work in directing and overseeing repair, construction, and maintenance within a building complex. Responsibilities include planning and directing the work of skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled workers in the building trades. Work involves laying out the overall project to subordinate foremen and monitoring progress for quality and timeliness within budgetary requirements. Supervision may be exercised over a small staff of employees and instructing, overseeing and monitoring inmate behavior for activities of an inmate crew engaged in assigned tasks. Work is performed under limited supervision.KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: (These are required to successfully perform the work assigned).Knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

Knowledge of the methods, practices, materials, and equipment of the building trades including carpentry, masonry, painting, electrical, plumbing, automotive repair, and/or boiler operations.

Knowledge of labor and materials cost estimation.

Knowledge of building maintenance.

Knowledge of OSHA, fire safety, and life safety guidelines and regulations.

Ability to supervise subordinate personnel.

Ability to coordinate construction activities.

Ability to direct work of supervisory, skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled workers and inmates.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.

Ability to inspect building conditions.

Ability to plan and layout building maintenance and repair projects.

Ability to use applicable computer programs.

Ability to participate in standby rotation on emergency basis.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (Entry level knowledges, skills, and/or abilities may be acquired through, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO the following coursework/training and/or experience).A five (5) year combination of experience, education, and/or training in general maintenance and repair work including three (3) years in a supervisory capacity.LICENSING/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: (These must be met by all employees prior to attaining permanent status in this class).HIgh Pressure Boiler Operator Licenses to be obtained within one (1) year of employment at the applicants expense.BENEFITSValue of State-paid Dental Insurance: $14.60 biweeklyValue of State-paid Health Insurance:

Level 1: 100% State Contribution (employee pays nothing): $470.99 biweekly

Level 2: 95% State Contribution (employee pays 5%): $447.44 biweekly

Level 3: 90% State Contribution (employee pays 10%): $423.89 biweekly

Level 4: 85% State Contribution (employee pays 15%): $400.34 biweekly
