Description We are in search of a Sr. Accountant to join our team based in Annapolis, Maryland. This role provides an opportunity to contribute to our finance department by performing a variety of accounting and finance job duties. The position serves as a lead for the Accounting Team and offers a chance to grow in the accounting field. This is a contract to hire employment opportunity.Responsibilities: Lead the Accounting Team and assist with the establishment and implementation of accounting policies and procedures. Prepare company compliance audits and close quarterly books. Compile and analyze financial reports, reconcile financial statements, and prepare journal entries. Complete balance sheet and manage banking and investing accounting functions. Reconcile grant funding accounts, schedules, and post company payroll. Maintain accurate documentation and records for back-up. Engage in special projects and other duties as required. Assist in the annual financial reporting and preparation of audited financial statements. Use Microsoft Excel and other spreadsheet accounting software to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Conduct account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and bank reconciliations.Requirements Applicant must hold a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role as a Sr. Accountant Proficiency in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and Bank Reconciliations is essential Familiarity with General Ledger management and Journal Entries is required Applicant should possess advanced skills in Microsoft Excel Experience in Month End Close procedures is necessary Must have experience in Annual Financial Reporting and preparation of Annual Audited Financial Statements Ability to Analyze Financial Statements proficiently is expected Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities are required Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a relevant field is required Proficiency in using accounting software and databases is necessary Applicant should have a strong understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices Familiarity with laws, regulations, and best practices applicable to the accounting and finance industry is essential Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks are required.Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
