The Anne Arundel Soil Conservation District seeks an Engineer/Soil Conservation Specialist (ES4). This person will primarily review sediment and erosion control plans and will require working with various departments within Anne Arundel County government, State Highway Administration and the City of Annapolis. Projects will range from single-family homes to large subdivisions and commercial projects.
Applicants must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in engineering or a related field. Or 4 years of professional experience in the field of sediment and erosion control may be substituted for a bachelor's degree or a combination of education and work experience. Knowledge of topography and the MDE 2011 Maryland Standards and Specifications for Soil Erosion and Sediment Control manual is a must; and knowledge of stormwater management including hydrology, hydraulics, TR-55, TR-20, and MD-378 criteria a definite plus. This work will require physical effort and exposure to the outside in visiting potential project sites. Applicants should be physically able to walk steep ravines and work with county personnel, contractors and engineers.
