Amentum is seeking a well-rounded Mechanical Engineer in Annapolis Junction, MD to support a facilities infrastructure program for a mission-critical customer, responsible for assisting with analysis and modernization of the new and existing mechanical infrastructure. Gather and review all available Energy Management Control System (EMCS) information regarding historic loading and corresponding outside air conditions, to generate a building load or room load and cross-verify/validate field measurements.
Install and maintain temporary metering at facilities or any/all locations that are not tracked in EMCS. Use gathered details to determine facility capacities, shortfalls, and concerns.
Assist with coordinating and scheduling surveys, inspections, and walkthroughs of the existing mechanical systems.
Responsible for all aspects of the client’s mechanical baseline and capacity reports at roughly 50 Department of Defense (DOD) facilities.
Responsible for all aspects of the Mechanical Engineering Review process, including surveys to collect existing condition data, collecting computer room air conditioning (CRAC) summary data, performing existing and new load and capacity calculations, and providing recommendations.
Provide current and historical mechanical infrastructure knowledge to client engineers and construction teams.
Work with the client to gather and analyze critical infrastructure information and review engineering plans.
Analyze and provide the client feedback regarding the operation and condition of mechanical chilled water plants along with any other infrastructure equipment upon request.
Remain familiar with all client standards and relevant changes.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related scientific field, and at least 5 years of mechanical engineering experience
Must maintain a valid state driver's license
Position may require occasional travel in short sprints (roughly 2-3 weeks maximum per year)
Must have an Active Top Secret US Government Clearance with SCI eligibility and polygraph. Note: US Citizenship is required to maintain a Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility and polygraph.
Preferred Qualifications:
E.I.T. Certification or P.E. License
Prior experience with mechanical load analysis or chilled water system design
Familiarity with interpreting building codes, ASHRAE specifications, and construction design drawings
Demonstrated technical writing capabilities
