Small Harford county private Christian school is in search of a dedicated Principal.
The principal is to oversees the total educational program of our school and is directly responsible for the day-to-day operations of the school. Our principal assures that programs are designed and implemented through a Christ centered, biblical worldview. All planned and implemented school programs are to be consulted with and evaluated by the Pastor and the Board of Directors.
Our principal is ultimately responsible for overseeing that all instruction pertaining to the school academy programs, curriculum, student activities are consistent with the mission, philosophy, goals, objectives and belief of our school ministry. The principal directly reports to the Pastor/ Board of Directors who reviews the principal’s performance annually.
Essential Functions
Our principal implements Christian education through a Christian worldview. Promotes Christ-Centered youth activities within the school and the community it serves, ensuring that the school maintains a Christ-Centered identity. The principal also provides instructional leadership that attracts and retains excellent Christian faculty members and staff, ensuring that the school's academic goals are achieved and maintains the school's accreditation. The principal provides opportunities for the spiritual and intellectual growth of our students and faculty. It is important that our final candidate be fully supportive of ministry, mission work, models and demonstrate an active prayer life and growth in his or her walk with Christ; participants in regular church attendance, and is able to introduce and integrates Christ-Centered community activities to promote and enrich the school’s culture as appropriate.
Specifically, the Principals responsibilities are as listed:
Hires, supervises, and terminates all academic and support staff in consultation with the Pastor and the Board.
Works consistently toward improving the quality of instruction within the school by fostering the professional growth of the instructional staff.
Ensures that the academic, health, students and staff records are maintained.
Develop and implement a strong student recruitment program.
Works to establish procedures to ensure the safety of students and all other personnel while on school properly.
Prepares and presents recommendations for the annual operations budget to the Board.
Provides for the scheduling and supervision of all student activities.
Maintains and enforces a non-discrimination in all activities.
Coordinates responsibilities and duties of all staff.
Develops the school calendar in collaboration with the activity coordinator.
Recommends faculty and staff salary schedules to the School Board and Pastor.
Oversees teacher certification.
Works to authorize the use of the school facilities by outside groups.
Serves as liaison with parent, student and organizations as needed. Provides inspirational leadership and visibility at school and community events.
Establishes and administers personnel policies for faculty and staff.
Prepares all necessary reports.
Participates with the Board and its advisory activities.
Appoints moderators for the curricular and co-curricular activities and ensures compliance with the school's mission.
Appoints assistant principal.
Evaluates the performance of all faculty and staff in consultation with the Assistant Principal.
Designs and implements a just process of teacher supervision and evaluation.
Directs and implements policies for the retention, promotion, graduation, suspension and dismissal of students; consults with the Board and pastor on student dismissals.
Establishes a periodic review of school regulations, compliance and enforcement.
Position Spiritual Qualifications
Practicing a Christ-Centered, biblical worldview and life style. Fully able to model and demonstrate Christian values and adhere to the teachings of the Holy Bible. Participate in servanthood through ministry, mission, giving, discipleship and evangelism. Adhere to the leading of the Holy Spirit as a born-again Christian. Attended church regularly as an active member of the congregation. Promote a Christ-Centered life style that is characterized by a deep relationship with Christ and a profound desire to glorify God in words and in deeds.
Educational Qualification and experience:
Master's degree from an accredited institution in educational administration, supervision, curriculum development, or education.
Minimum of five years teaching experience at the appropriate level (elementary) Three or more years of experience in a Christian school preferred.
Minimum of three or more years of leadership (Principal/Assistant Principal) experience in a Christian school preferred.
Maryland certification as a Principal (ADMIN II).
A letter of recommendation as a member in good standing certification from your Pastor/ Bishop; a certificate of ordinate.
Demonstrated leadership ability in an educational environment that includes the ability to inspire the school community, i.e., students, faculty, parents and board.
Demonstrated commitment to the mission of Christian education as a necessity.
