CAD Drafter & Permit Coordinator
Seeking individual to apply for building permits, obtain homeowner association approvals and provide basic AutoCAD drafting assistance for a landscape contractor company. Lazo Landscaping specializes in the construction of outdoor residential living spaces. Our typical projects include swimming pools, decks, pavilions, patios, gazebos, outdoor kitchens, screened porches, retaining walls, etc.
A person is needed to apply for county building permits for counties in the greater Baltimore area. This same individual will be assisting project homeowners with drawings and other documents required by the neighborhood homeowner’s associations. Additionally, the employee hired will provide AutoCAD drafting support to landscape designers.
This job opportunity is well suited for entry or mid level civil engineers, landscape architects, landscape designers and similar background. Position is full time and hybrid. On the job training and assistance will be provided by the current permit department head.
Ideal candidate should have a general understanding of the building permit process and experience in the use of AutoCAD LT. Work is primarily indoors with occasional site visits.
Duties
Prepare framing plans for decks, pavilions and screened porches.
Apply online for building permits in Harford, Baltimore and Howard counties.
Contact County departments reviewers to assure flow of permit application reviews.
Provide additional items requested by the county department reviewers.
Schedule building permit inspections and monitor inspection results.
Coordinate with staff on the status of permit applications, inspections and reviews.
Prepare site plans and exhibits required by the homeowner associations.
Coordinate with homeowners as needed to obtain information required for permit applications and homeowner associations.
Requirements
Entry level proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD LT.
Familiarity with residential building permits or be able to learn the process.
Ability to understand site plans and construction drawings.
Associates or bachelors degree in civil engineering, landscape design, landscape architecture or related field; or 2 years of permitting experience.
Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
Good understanding of drafting principles and techniques, including the ability to draft schematics accurately.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication skills to collaborate with county reviewers and company staff.
Ability to communicate in Spanish a plus.
This position offers the opportunity to develop skills in the design of outdoor living spaces. Training and support assistance will be provided.
