Job Description:

The primary function of this position is to manage the design, permitting and construction of solar and battery storage projects ranging from 500kW to 50MW+ in the mid-Atlantic region of the U.S. The successful applicant will be a highly motivated, resourceful, well-organized, and cooperative producer and manager that is able to meet project goals, schedules and budgets. ARMs renewable energy and distributed generation team is comprised of a diverse, talented, and hard-working group of individuals committed to growing both our business and this industry.

The position will require an extensive knowledge of solar PV system design (battery storage modelling and design experience preferred) with a focus on identifying, communicating, and solving engineering and permitting risks that may impact a projects overall feasibility, cost, or constructability. In addition to early-stage project modelling and engineering coordination, the position will also require project management responsibilities including: local on-site support involving interfacing with regulators and other officials to support permit approvals; communicating with clients on technical issues or concerns; interconnection coordination and planning with local utility; construction administration, budget management, and QA/QC of projects in construction.

This is a mid to senior level position with the responsibility and opportunity to manage projects and programs and advance within the company.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Design commercial and utility scale solar PV systems, including the interconnection design at primary distribution voltages (system capacity range from 500kW to 50MW+)

Prepare detailed models and technical documents to present solar design/feasibility findings to project stakeholders.

Analyze and simulate PV project energy generation (PV Syst) and shading analyses.

Prepare financial models for solar and solar plus storage projects using HOMER or other similar software tool.

Evaluate the economic, engineering, or pragmatic feasibility of solar PV installation projects based on site and/or building constraints (i.e., constructability assessment).

Be able to review and interpret electrical drawings, technical specifications and single line drawings.

Assist the ARM business development team in estimating and selling solar PV systems.

Manage diverse details from construction means and methods to contract language and legal/risk protection.

Manage the design, permitting and construction for solar PV projects ranging from $1,000,000 to $50,000,000.

Maintain complicated schedules, develop project timelines, coordinate with subcontractors, and manage people and materials to complete jobs on schedule and within budget guidelines.

Attend pre-construction meetings and progress meetings; develop detailed meeting minutes.

Review and approve shop and electrical drawings from subcontractors.

Coordinate the construction of multiple projects simultaneously.

Act as the direct point of contact in communication with clients and stakeholders.

Assess and mitigate project risks in advance of detailed engineering efforts.

Generate BOMs for each project, procure bids from multiple vendors, conduct detailed bid reviews, execute POs for materials, and manage shipping/logistics of materials to site.

Work with team to refine and improve internal processes.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Familiarity with solar design/construction processes.

Experience managing vendor and client payment terms to achieve positive cash flow.

Understanding of financial models and budget management.

Experience with design-build contracts from ground up that result in profitable construction projects.

Reasonably proficient in AutoCAD, MS Office Suite, PVSyst, HOMER, and MS Project or equivalent project scheduling software.

Familiarity with mid-Atlantic environmental regulations governing solar projects.

Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) design experience (Preferred)

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering, Construction, Energy Analysis, Environmental Studies, or a relevant field from an accredited four year college or university.

2+ years of experience designing, permitting, and providing construction project management on design/build PV installation projects.

5+ years of relevant project management experience.
