Development Assistant

Description The Development Assistant plays a critical role in supporting the fundraising efforts of a well-known local nonprofit. This position primarily focuses on managing donor relations through the Raiser's Edge database, processing donations, and ensuring timely and accurate acknowledgment of gifts. The Development Assistant will work closely with the Development team to maintain donor records, support major gift initiatives, and contribute to the overall success of fundraising campaigns.Responsibilities:

Raiser's Edge Management:

Utilize Raiser's Edge software to maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records.

Input new donor information, update records, and ensure data integrity.

Generate reports and queries as needed to support fundraising initiatives and donor stewardship.

Donation Processing:

Receive, record, and process donations in a timely manner.

Verify accuracy of donation details and ensure compliance with organizational guidelines.

Reconcile donation records with financial reports and assist in financial reconciliation processes.

Acknowledgement Letters:

Generate personalized acknowledgment letters for all donations received.

Ensure acknowledgment letters are sent promptly and in accordance with donor preferences.

Draft and customize acknowledgment templates for various donor segments and gift levels.

Major Gifts Support:

Assist in the preparation of materials for major gift solicitations and meetings.

Coordinate donor meetings and appointments, including scheduling and logistics.

Collaborate with the Development team to identify potential major gift prospects within the donor database.

Donor Relations:

Serve as a point of contact for donor inquiries and requests.

Provide excellent customer service to donors, ensuring a positive donor experience.

Support donor stewardship efforts, including organizing donor events and communication initiatives.

General Administrative Support:

Assist with mailings, filing, and other administrative tasks as needed.

Maintain inventory of fundraising materials and supplies.

Participate in team meetings, contribute to brainstorming sessions, and provide input on fundraising strategies.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Proficiency in Raiser's Edge or similar fundraising software.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Understanding of fundraising principles and donor relations.

Experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, or related field is a plus.
