Ensure all activities related to hazardous waste handling, storage, and disposal comply with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., RCRA, OSHA, EPA guidelines).
Collaborate with corporate and local teams to design and implement effective waste minimization and recycling initiatives.
Provide strategic leadership and guidance for environmental compliance within the region.
Regulatory Compliance:
Monitor and ensure compliance with all environmental regulations related to hazardous waste management.
Stay updated on federal, state, and local environmental laws, and ensure programs and operations align with any changes in regulations.
Lead audits and inspections for hazardous waste management practices across facilities.
Prepare and submit regulatory reports and permits in a timely manner.
Team Leadership:
Manage and mentor a team of hazardous waste coordinators and specialists across the region.
Conduct training programs for employees on hazardous waste management, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
Foster a culture of safety, sustainability, and compliance within the organization.
Risk Management:
Assess risks associated with hazardous waste activities and develop strategies to mitigate them.
Respond promptly and effectively to hazardous waste emergencies or spills and coordinate the necessary corrective actions.
Continuous Improvement:
Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives for hazardous waste programs to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and minimize environmental impact.
Monitor and track program performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate success.
Stakeholder Communication:
Serve as the primary contact for regional hazardous waste matters, interacting with local authorities, environmental agencies, and third-party contractors.
Communicate program updates, compliance status, and environmental performance to senior management and other key stakeholders.
Budget and Resource Management:
Develop and manage the regional hazardous waste program budget.
Ensure that resources (e.g., staff, equipment, and supplies) are allocated appropriately and within budget constraints.
Qualifications:Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in hazardous waste management, environmental compliance, or a related field.
Proven track record of managing hazardous waste programs and ensuring regulatory compliance across multiple sites or regions.
Experience with RCRA, EPA regulations, OSHA standards, and other relevant environmental laws.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of hazardous waste regulations and best practices for waste minimization, recycling, and disposal.
Excellent project management, organizational, and leadership skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Certifications:
Hazardous Materials Management Certification (e.g., CHMM) preferred.
Environmental certifications, such as RCRA training or OSHA certifications, a plus.
-Detailed experience with RCRA-Detailed experience with DOT-Must have experience in Hazardous Waste Industry-Can travel for up to 6 weeks at a time-Intermediate/Advanced skills in using Sharepoint/ExcelPhysical Requirements:
Ability to work in both office and field environments.
Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Ability to travel frequently within the designated region.
