Requisition ID: 174040Job Level: Senior LevelHome District/Group: Eastern DistrictDepartment: EnvironmentalMarket: MarineEmployment Type: Full TimePosition OverviewAs a Senior Environmental Specialist for Kiewit, you will provide expertise, implement policies and procedures, ensure compliance, supervise efforts on construction projects, and mentor/develop other employees to support environmental functions at both the project and corporate level.District OverviewKiewit’s Eastern District specializes in challenging heavy civil construction projects throughout the Northeast, including the metropolitan areas of New York, Chicago, Boston, and Washington DC.  We are leaders in bridge, transit, foundation, tunnel, and water/wastewater construction while specializing in cast-in-place concrete, structural steel erection, earthwork, pile driving, and caissons. Kiewit’s Eastern District also has a large amount of work in the energy/power sector in various northeast locations. With our experienced and dedicated employees, extensive resources and in-depth market knowledge, the Eastern District can handle projects of any size.LocationThis person will work on a large heavy civil infrastructure construction project in Baltimore, MD.Responsibilities

Implement programs and procedures to assure the compliance of the site with applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations.

Supervise job environmental processes and address any concerns at the job level.

Assist supervisors, managers, and others in obtaining and maintaining environmental permits.

Assist engineering and operations management in planning for compliance of new and modified processes and operations with environmental regulations.

Oversee the drafting and preparation of permit applications and application renewals in compliance with environmental regulations.

Develop and implement environmental training programs.

Qualifications

At least 5 years of construction environmental experience working on heavy civil infrastructure, marine, and/or bridge type projects.

Proof of bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, biology, or related field is required.

Current 40-hour HAZPOWER certification, or ability to complete it within first 6 months of employment.

Working knowledge of environmental codes, standards, and compliance.

CPESC, CESCL, and/or CESSWI certifications are a plus.

Demonstrated experience related to the areas of responsibility for environmental compliance for major transportation construction projects or similar is a plus, but not required.

Proficient in MS Office (Power Point, Word, Excel) and other relevant software systems.

Strong work ethic and professional demeanor.

Effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to perform multiple tasks efficiently and accurately.

Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Must be team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives.
