We, at Ovenbird Bakery, are excited to be looking for a Pastry Cook to be a part of

developing the bakery’s character, products, and service. Our emphasis is on

creating a community both with our customers and our employees. We want to

The Pastry Cook will focus on our viennoiserie program and will be producing

laminated doughs (including Croissants, Danishes, Puff Pastry) and the shaping of

finished products. The Pastry Cook will report to the Head of Pastry. This is a

permanent, full-time position with daytime hours.

We are looking for someone with prior viennoiserie and lamination experience for

this role. Culinary School graduates are preferred but a degree is not required if

the candidate has prior experience and the skill-set necessary for the position.

Photographs or a portfolio of your prior work is a plus.

The hourly rate is commensurate with your experience.

Job Responsibilities:

 Scale, mix and laminate Croissant, Danish and Puff doughs.

 Shape laminated pastry including croissant, Kouign-Amann, Danish etc.

 Produce tart and quiche shells.

 Assist with special orders and holiday production.

 Maintain overall cleanliness of the bakery and compliance with all health

department regulations.

 Work collaboratively as part of a team of pastry chefs, bread bakers, and

other production staff.

Requirements:

 Prior pastry experience and professional training required.

 Reliable, self-motivated, punctual and a team player.

 Knowledge of weights, measurements, and volume.

 Proven capacity to produce and manage large volumes of dough and

pastries.

 Familiarity with all professional kitchen equipment, including mixers,

blenders and especially dough sheeters.

 Precise and detail oriented.

 Excellent time management skills

 A proven track record of being able to handle a fast-paced work

environment and a sense of urgency while at work.

 Excellent ability to work independently as well as proven experience working

within a collaborative team.

 Food Safety Manager Certification (Safe2Serve) is a plus.

 Certification from a culinary school is preferred but not required provided

good recommendations and strong experience.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

 Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally throughout the day.

 Ability to stand or walk at least 8 hours, and be able to frequently push, pull,

squat, bend and reach with or without reasonable accommodation.
