The Bluebird Baltimore is looking for a General Manager to join our team.
We are small sustainable restaurant group just off of the Ave in Hampden that is heavily focused on using products from the Chesapeake Watershed area. We have an incredibly talented bar staff and caring kitchen crew and we are looking for a leader to work under the Director of Operations that can help us grow.
We are starting to expand our events program, catering and training programs. We provide the staff with weekly mini trainings during line-up, monthly trainings on products and techniques and mentorship to anyone who wants to move up through the positions (we prefer to promote from within)
Our General Manager will:
- Lead by example
- Be able to walk into a restaurant and follow it's current systems until they can make them more efficient
- Prepare and plan for events in advance.
- Develop a training program for all members of staff with the bar managers and AGM
- Be a self starter.
- Be clean, consistent and accountable
- Have a deep working knowledge of bar techniques and recipes
- Maintain strict COGs while working within our ethos
- Understand and manipulate P&Ls
- Drive our staff to live up to service standards
- Mentor new staff as well as our AGM
- Work to keep costs down
- Work with the DOO, Bar Managers, and Chefs to plan out seasonal preservations and build out our larder for the late fall - early winter
- Educate the staff on service techniques.
- Maintain a level of professionalism at work where people are managed with directness, kindness and respect.
- Set a standard on what a healthy work place looks like.
- Have at least 5 years of experience managing restaurants
- Works the floor during services at least 3-4 days per week.
