As a Benefit Advisor, you will provide support and high-quality customer service to our members (employees). This position is the "go to" expert for health benefits-related inquires. The Benefit Advisor requires strong communication skills and must be able to communicate complex information simply and effectively to ensure member engagement, confidentiality and satisfaction.
Masters, Mates and Pilots Benefit Plans are multi-employer benefit plans that were established pursuant to collective bargaining agreements between signatory companies and the International Organization of Masters, Mates & Pilots (MM&P) and provide health, pension, vacation, training and 401(k) benefits primarily to members of MM&P. MM&P members are professional mariners that include US-Coast Guard licensed masters and mates on US-flag commercial vessels on international voyages, on the inland waterways and on civilian-crewed ships in the federal government fleet, and masters, mates and other marine personnel who work on tugs, ferries, dredges and harbor tour vessels throughout the United States
Duties:
- Acts as the first point of contact for members and associates
- Log-in and track incoming telephone contacts from members and vendors
- Communicate effectively with members to explain available benefit options
- Address benefits questions and issues from members and major insurance carriers
- Process benefit claims and reimbursements in a timely manner.
-Enter pre-certifications consistent with health/benefit provider requirements
- Provide exceptional customer service
Qualifications:
- HS/GED required
-Experience working in benefit plan administration and customer service environment
- One (1) to two (2) yrs. experience processing medical claims
- Knowledge of health/benefit rules/regulations and medical terms such as CPT & ICD
- Working knowledge of IBMi or AS400 software
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom and Teams

Expected hours: 35 per week. Work Location: In person, telework is not available for this position.
