PRP Worker and Substance Abuse Counselor / Peer Recovery Specialist

Agency is expanding and looking for staff for the following positions

1. PRP Worker

The PRP Specialist will be responsible for managing a caseload of minor and/or adult clients

The PRP Counselor will conduct a minimum of 3 visits per month for minor clients and 6 visits per month for adult clients.

The PRP Counselor provides community case management services.

The PRP Counselor will demonstrate expertise in implementing intervention services to support the client’s Individual Rehabilitation Plan (IRP). This may require completion of and navigation of the social services process, housing resources and application process, and completion of mobility application assistance (this is not an all-inclusive list of duties).

The PRP Counselor must complete client progress notes within a 24-to-48-hour time frame after each client encounter in the EHR system.

The PRP Counselor must complete a monthly collaboration with the client-therapist and other collaborative organizations.

The PRP Counselor must complete a monthly summary for all clients within the required time frame and collaborate with client's therapist and/or other systems.

The PRP Counselor must attend the mandatory monthly “All Staff Meeting” and training as scheduled.

Other duties as assigned.

Must have own transportation and be able to provide proof of driving insurance and a copy of driving record

Must not have no points on license

Pay: $18-$20 an hour

Peer Recovery Specialist:

The Certified Peer Recovery Specialist will build trust-based relationships with clients while assisting in their journey toward recovery and wellness. The Certified Peer Recovery Specialist provides optimism and hope that recovery is possible and probable, all while promoting empowerment, self-determination, understanding, coping skills, and resilience. This position reports to Program Director

Peer Recovery Specialist (Substance Abuse)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Facilitates Peer Groups a minimum of 4 times per week.

Provides 1:1 coaching, peer counseling, and mentoring to EXODUS clients.

Participate in weekly orientation groups for new clients.

Accompanies clients to appointments as needed.

Disseminates information on harm reduction, recovery, and community resources.

Assists clients with recovery planning.

Advocates on behalf of clients.

Assists clients with linkages to community services.

Collaborates with clinical and other support staff who work with enrolled participants, i.e. by collaborating on treatment plans and discussing participants’ progress and general well-being.

Completes required documentation and other reports within 24 hours.

Documentation includes but is not limited to documentation of each participant encounter, service plans with enrolled participants, progress reports to treatment teams, etc.

Protects the privacy of clients.

Maintain confidentiality of clients.

Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of the “multiple pathways” of the recovery process for individuals with substance use disorders.

Knowledge of the signs of substance use disorders, mental health disorders, and/or co-occurring disorders.

Knowledge of ethical and behavioral standards of conduct in helping relationships.

Ability to obtain and report relevant background information by interviewing clients and third parties.

Ability to work with groups and clients who may display behavioral health issues.

Ability to communicate effectively with clients, their family and friends, treatment team members and the general public.

Strong observational skills.

Ability to use helping strategies to reduce the negative effects of substance use.

Ability to use support systems and community resources available to clients and their significant others and to advocate for clients’ rights.

Ability to accurately document client information.

Ability to comply with established standards of ethics and confidentiality.

Education and Experience Requirements:

High School Diploma or graduation equivalent.

MD CPRS (Certified Peer Recovery Specialist).

Minimum of one year providing peer support services.(Negotiable)

o Additional education may substitute for required experience,

Pay: $20-$22 an hour

Substance Abuse Counselor:

Substance abuse counselor will be in charge with assisting patients through medically assisting programs and offering techniques for handling opioid addiction. Counselor conducts group sessions and individual sessions to assist with crisis management and coping strategies. Additionally, counselor will evaluate patients progress during therapy. Substance abuse counselors may also need to collaborate with doctors, nurses and therapists for patients therapy and treatment for best overall outcome.

Responsibilities:

Conducts individual initial assessment and evaluation interviews for service eligibility determination

Involve families and significant others in patients recovery process whenever possible

Facilitates, establishes and reviews with each patient the initial treatment plan

Respond, as needed, to patient grievances and complaints

Develop aftercare plans and discharge plans

Other related duties as determined by the supervisor

Licensing: ADT, CSC-AD, or CAC-AD CSC-AD, CAC-AD, Certification or a Trainee Status Letter, LCPC, LGPC CCPC-AD, LADAC or ADT from the State of Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists

Associates Degree in Counseling

Satisfactory criminal background check and drug screen
