Product and Manufacturing Engineer - First Shift (5852)

Traveling will be required until training is completed. This position offers paid training for four weeks at our Houston, TX ACM plant and four weeks at our Beloit, WI ACM plant. Once training is completed, the position will be housed at the new Aberdeen, MD AMC plant.

American Construction Metals (ACM), a rapidly growing manufacturing strategic business unit of ABC Supply, is currently seeking an experienced Product and Manufacturing Engineer. This is a first shift position. The hours will be Monday through Friday 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

The Product and Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the design of the standard production processes for each work center within the plant. In this role, you will be involved in supplier development, supplier audits and sourcing machines and supplies. In addition, you will develop systems and procedures to ensure that the facility is operating safely and producing high quality products.

Specific duties may include:

Developing and designing safe and productive work centers

Working with machine suppliers and designing machinery

Developing shipping, picking and packing procedures

Helping research and resolve customer issues that relate to product quality

Developing and implementing a system to audit the plant, preventative maintenance and packaging processes

Ensuring production associates are properly trained on SOPs

Maintaining product drawings for use on the manufacturing floor

Providing product specifications for the plant

Managing Corrective Action Responses

Managing projects including: Facility Layout and Design; new equipment; repair and upgrade of materials and problem solving of quality issues

Specific qualifications:

College degree (Engineering or other related field) or equivalent combination of education and experience

Valid Driver’s License is required

Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is required

Experience working with JDE software or similar MRP/ERP system is preferred

Strong mechanical aptitude and mathematical skills

Travel is required, at time up to a weeklong trip possible every month

Six Sigma and LEAN training, Black Belt certification is preferred

Traveling for training is required until paid training is completed

Physical Demand:

Associate must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted and up to 100 lbs. with assistance.

Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, crouch, reach, and lift for a full 8-hour day.

Work Environment:

100% manufacturing setting

Associate must comply with assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirement in varies areas, including but not limited to, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and safety shoes.

Associate will have exposure to typical working conditions within the manufacturing environment, including but not limited to, seasonal temperature changes, occasional exposure to exhaust fumes, dirt, dust, debris, and grease, moving forklift equipment, and pinch points on machinery.

Annual Salary Information

$75,000 - 85,000 Annually. Based on experience & qualifications.
