VienerX, a national IT and security consulting firm founded in 1991, is seeking an experienced Senior IT Field Engineer with advanced expertise in firewalls, networking, and infrastructure systems. This role is intended for a top-tier technician capable of operating independently across a wide range of customer environments, both in-office and on-site.
Candidates must demonstrate proven success in designing, deploying, and troubleshooting firewalls and IP networks. The position includes hands-on work at customer locations and in-office collaboration with our engineering team. While the customer base is national, travel outside the Maryland region is limited and only required as needed. This is a high-responsibility role that may involve urgent or after-hours response when issues arise.
This position is primarily in-office or on-site at client locations throughout Central Maryland. It is not a remote or hybrid role. The engineer will be involved in both day-to-day support and project deployments, including infrastructure upgrades, firewall implementations, and network diagnostics.
Minimum of five years of technical experience in managed IT services or enterprise support is required. Candidates must have deep expertise in firewalls (preferably WatchGuard), IP addressing, routing, and VPNs. Strong proficiency in Windows environments and Office 365 administration is expected. The ability to lead technical efforts and communicate directly with end customers is essential. A background check is required due to customer industry requirements.
Experience with ConnectWise or similar systems, knowledge of virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V, and relevant certifications (CompTIA, Microsoft, WatchGuard) are preferred.
