Position Summary
The Wedding Dresser is seeking enthusiastic and motivated interns to join our team. This internship offers valuable hands-on experience in bridal and special occasion design and construction, allowing you to apply your academic knowledge in a professional environment.
The Wedding Dresser started as a “ Repurpose your wedding dress” company specializing in dyeing, painting and restyling gowns after the wedding, and restoring and restyling antique and vintage dresses. We have grown into a new concept in B & M retailing offering "everything but the dress”
A great candidate will be a fashion or costume design student or recent grad or someone with professional skills in costume and/or garment construction or equivalent experience. This job is on site and requires interning at least 2 days a week including some evenings and Saturdays.
You will practice your sewing, pattern drafting, and draping skills. You will learn couture techniques like beadwork and Lace applique. You will construct custom veils, headpieces and coverups.
Most importantly you will learn how to pin a fitting on the human body. As a fitting assistant you will also help style brides' looks choosing from our large selection of jewelry and accessories or designing bespoke pieces. You will also help sourcing and shopping.

Key Responsibilities
Assist fitters during fittings, helping to pin clients
Collaborate with team members on sewing projects
Use basic hand and machine sewing skills
Utilize your knowledge of special occasion, fashion or costume design and/or construction to help bring our designs to life
Source materials and trims
Build veils, jackets, capes and other bespoke accessories
Style brides accessories at their fitting
Help design new accessories for our clients and wholesale line, bringing fresh ideas and creativity to our products
Learning Opportunities
Gain hand-on experience in the bridal industry
Work closely with professionals in fashion design, and alterations.
Develop skills in alterations, restyling, using commercial patterns, and pattern drafting
Enhance your problem-solving, teamwork, and communication abilities
Build a professional network and learn about career paths in the bridal industry
Gain excellent Customer Service skills
Desired Skills
Strong interest in fashion
Background or degree in fashion design, special occasion, or costume design and construction or equivalent professional experience
Basic sewing skills
Home machine and Industrial machine experience
Basic pattern making skills
Knowledge of various hand stitching techniques
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Detail-oriented careful listener
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace
