NPosition Type ManagementJOB SUMMARYThe Director, Project Services – Climate Action Program, plays a critical role in supporting sustainable operations, a key enabler of Marriott’s Growing Forward strategy and is part of the Global Operations (GO) department which is known for taking ideas into implementation across all brands, disciplines, and continents. This leader will focus their efforts on Marriott’s Climate Action Program (CAP), the company’s approach to reducing carbon emissions across the organization in support of a climate-smart, growth-focused future. Reporting to the Senior Director, Project Services, and working closely with the VP, Climate Action Program, this leader will partner with the Global Engineering and Sustainability + Supplier Diversity disciplines to create, direct, and manage projects and activities within these departments that directly align to the Climate Action Program and/or broader sustainable operations strategic priorities.The position requires a proven ability to think strategically (at both program and individual initiative level), translate technical objectives for broad, non-technical audiences, articulate ideas effectively, and manage and thrive in a complex work environment, including managing senior-level relationships while maintaining poise under pressure.This leader will interface with team members in and outside of Global Operations, including Global Finance, Global Design, iT, and relevant third-party partners to ensure successful progress on key initiatives and platforms. Exceptional relationship management and communication skills are fundamental, given that this role acts as a conduit and strategic interface internally across disciplines and externally with key strategic vendor partners.CANDIDATE PROFILEEducation & ExperienceRequired

4-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Operations, or related major

8+ years of operations or related professional area experience, including 6 + years of solid program/project management experience

Strong analytical skills for planning, estimating, budgeting and monitoring program/project work

Demonstrated experience using in web-based tracking/project management tools such as Smartsheet, including creation of reports, dashboards, and automated workflows

Expertise using Office 365 including SharePoint and Teams, MS Excel, PowerPoint and Power BI

Experience developing clear, concise, and logically written business communications, as well as delivering recommendations effectively to demanding audiences

Exceptional verbal, oral and written communication skills; ability to articulate a compelling vision

Ability to travel up to 25%, including international travel

Preferred

Big Five Consulting experience

Lodging industry experience

Experience in international business environment

Solid track record of advancing business direction and strategies

MBA or equivalent

Project Management Certification

Experience in providing direction and performing responsibilities via influence ability (as opposed to line management authority).

Expertise and proven track record in managing complex, multifunctional initiatives, including required change management efforts

Familiarity with Marriott’s internal communication and deployment processes

Ability to develop and maintain strong interpersonal relationships with team members, internal stakeholders and external constituents

Understanding of or strong interest in sustainability topics, including renewable energy, design, and engineering

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

Partnering with GO Disciplines leaders to develop program roadmaps and project plans for designing, developing and deploying Climate Action Program related initiatives.

Program management (ensuring appropriate sequencing and resourcing of work, managing budgets across multiple streams of work)

Project management individual workstream initiatives

Partnership with other key Disciplines in delivering priority projects to support the Program

Partnering with other advisory teams and centers of excellence at MIHQ and the Continents (e.g., CO Planning & Services, iT, and in-continent Strategy and Planning teams) to represent the departments in critical planning and prioritization processes

Working with Operations, Finance, Design, and iT leaders (as needed) to explore opportunity areas and prioritize work

Partnering with Continent teams to identify and enable early adopters in each Continent, enabling rapid prototyping and speed-to-market

Managing the effort to convert successful tests into full-scale deployments that are easy for hotels to execute correctly, and which have clear success measures

Manage varied flex resources as needed to assist with project efforts

Set goals and expectations for direct reports, align performance and rewards, appropriately address performance issues, and hold staff accountable for successful results

Champion leadership development and workforce planning priorities by monitoring capacity, and assessing and developing diverse, high-caliber talent that can deliver against the priorities and projects
